Worlds 2022 - opening ceremony

Yesterday the wind was too strong to sail, so everyone tuned and re-shaped their boats. Today morning at 11h was "day-zero", meaning you had to have all stickers in place and from then on, no more tuning and shaping, only fixes and battens manipulations.

The practice race wasn't that successful as only about half of the fleet went out, the wind seemed really strong and nobody wants to break stuff the day before race 1, right ? Not so for me, I went out, had 2 decent laps and on the third one I broke the traveler rope, so back to the shores. Everyone thought the wind was very strong, until the PRO told me he measured only 13-14 knots. My feeling was more like 17-18 knots, so I'm not sure where the difference comes from, maybe from the very hot and humid air, being more dense and "pushing more". In any case it did certainly not feel like 13 knots.... maybe it's the committee anemometer needing some spring cleanup :-)

At 17h we had the opening ceremony, with a nice flag procession and many spectators from the yacht club - yes it's Saturday evening and the place is very busy. A few discourses followed by beer and food by the pool, the event seem to be on the right track.
