Worlds 2022 - skinny boy vs stainless steel

Today was the last day of the pre-regatta, the Admiral's Cup. It is named after the nickname of sailing legend Ben "the Admiral" Hall. First day was low wind range, barely trapeezing. Had trouble with my outhaul and cuningham. Second day went better with downwind trapeezing, it ended up well with a 2nd place right behind Micky Todd, who is really fast on his latest Scheurer G6. Third day was the usual conditions they get around the Galveston bay with sea breeze turning right during the day and chop building up, with the occasional waves cased by huge cargo ships entering the Bayport Container Terminal. First race went well, despite my repeated trouble with the cuningham which would not release by itself and left me under-powered until jumping on the mast base and puling it out, ripping a glove in the process. Second race was in heavier winds and I was determined to get a good result by pushing hard.

Pushed too hard, my trapeze didn't like my skinny weight and gave up during the 2nd upwind run.

Luckily there is Dustin with his giant trailer, containing 3 boats and the whole stack of spare parts and what else.

So I miss the podium but I still get a nice trophy and a good dinner with all the friends. Admiral's Cup is behind, tomorrow is the first step with registration and paperwork for the Worlds. Need to chase that measurement certificates !

On the Open discipline, beside the official podium, there are two sailors to watch for, Ravi Parent and Riley Gibbs. Very talented sailors who will be contenders for the podium, along with the usual suspects Dodé/Mahoney/Brewin.
