Worlds 2022 - getting to Houston

Today the wind is too strong even for big boys, so let's report some news about the daily business of participating to the Worlds in Houston. My journey started early in a cold morning of Bevaix's train station, along with Heiko's sail.

To my surprise, it was easy to register my sail at Geneva airport, it even successfully followed me through Frankfurt to Houston airport. I could then pass the borders giving fingerprints and answering strange questions about transporting a sail in a plane. The officer even asked if I'm really staying in the yacht club and how many room are in that hotel, to conclude telling me the sea is dirty and I should no take bathes. I will try do avoid them, thanks mate !

The Houston Yacht Club is indeed a very nice place to stay, the only issue being, they forgot to organize breakfast for the guests. I had to starve until lunch to get something to eat. You know how I get angry when I'm hungry. So they will fix it for tomorrow, promised.

Shipping containers is proving to be a challenge, and this time it was even crazier than usual. The boat unloaded the container in Charleston, South Carolina, following 1'100 miles of trucking it ended up this morning at 10am in HYC. Just in time as they say. Luckily the Texas cow-boys have relations all over the place, including people with huge trucks.

Unloading the hardware.

It's like Lego, only somewhat more expensive.

Today is the HYC's opening ceremony, with a hundred guests. We have been suggested we need to go away... or wear a tie and impeccable shirts. As my bag was anyway over the max weight to get boarded into a plane, I did not bother to bring my ties, too bad, I'm now missing the opportunity to network with the Houston's jet set. Not sure they would like my A-Cat t-shirts and the delicate smell of acetone anyway.

more exciting new tomorrow, if I get a breakfast.
